More FALL Fun!!

Yesterday my church hosted a fabulously fun western roundup. We worked really hard on getting together a lot of really fun stuff. We gathered there shortly after 8:00 am on Friday morning and did not get home that night until after 9:00 pm. My in laws drove all of the way from Birmingham to help us out watching Will while Jeff and I worked with our fellow church members to get everything ready for Saturday. We were really tired when we got home. Jeff's parents brought along my niece and nephew with them. We were so excited to have them visit with us. Will doesn't get to play with them as much as I would like. But, that is just part of being a pastor's son. We may never be close to them. It just depends on where God leads. In the meantime, we will look forward to our wonderful visits. I assumed that they would be asleep when we got there. Josie, my niece, was fast asleep in the recliner. However, Justin, her younger brother was wide eyed. He is so funny. He very flatly told me that he was not sleepy and that he did not plan to sleep at my house. At first, I wondered what we would do, after all, Birmingham is not just up the street from my home. My mother in law said that he normally will only sleep with his mother. Well FINALLY he just kind of passed out. Will was still very awake and would have been glad to stay up a while longer. Since we got Justin to sleep, I made him go as well. Just as Jeff had gotten his clothes off and settled in bed, we received a phone call telling us that he was needed at the hospital. One of our dearest church members was in serious condition. He had to get up and take off. Once he arrived he was met with the news that this dear woman had passed. He eventually got back home and in to bed. After a really long night of listening out for cries of "I want to go home" (which never happened), Jeff tapped me on the forehead and told me to get ready. It seemed as though I had just laid down. Saturday was a western themed carnival so we got gussied up in our western wear and headed off. My poor in laws were left to fend for themselves with all three children. We chose one of the coldest days to have our carnival. I saw so many women bundled up like eskimos. We all wound up with earaches and runny noses but we had a wonderful time and I feel like we accomplished what we set out to do. Our purpose was to minister to our neighborhood and we did just that. God certainly blessed our efforts and we are so thankful! I am already looking forward to next year!!!!

P.S. We got a splendid surprise on Sunday. Mary Cross and her two precious daughters joined us for church and then out to Applebee's for lunch. It was so much fun catching up with Mary and these two girls who have grown into such beautiful and intelligent young ladies.

It sure was a beautiful day to be so blame cold! The wind literally almost knocked me over one time - I had to catch myself! The pictures of the kids are great!!
