Negative Changes!!!!!

Being a child of the 80's I vividly remember when Ronald Reagan first got elected as president. We staged a mock election my second grade year at school. They actually brought in one of the old time lever pulling booths and allowed each second grader at John E. Bryan Elementary to cast their vote. Reagan won there by a land slide. I remember one girl voting for Jimmy Carter and several people laughed at her. Our noble teacher quickly stepped up and reminded us all that our votes were just that "ours". We as American citizens had a right to vote for any candidate we chose. Of course, we couldn't actually vote because we were only 7. However, she let us know loud and clear that it is a great honor just to be elected as a candidate and that we should admire and respect these men because they would have a very hard job ahead. Agree with the candidate, or not, they were still going to be the president. That mind set has followed me for most of my life and I must say that Mrs. Bradley was right. I can only imagine being the one person who can make such life changing decisions. In my 35 years we have had many presidents now and some I have truly loved and some others, not so much. It doesn't matter!!! These men deserve my respect even if they do not earn it sometimes. God teaches me to obey the laws of the land. I certainly think that you can disagree with the candidates morals but no matter how mad we get, they may still be in charge. This current election seems to be of great significance due to the war in Iraq and the failing economy. I don't know that I have ever been more tempted to dislike one of the candidates that is running. I don't mind telling you that it is Barrack Obama. He just plain scares me with some of his thinking. Being a conservative Christian, he and I do not see eye to eye. I am not saying that I agree with everything that John McCain says either but we seem to be closer to the same page. If I had my rathers, I would vote for a great man of God like Rev. Billy Graham or the late Dr. Adrian Rogers. These men are not running so I guess I will have to settle for John McCain. I am certainly praying that he wins, but if he doesn't then I will pray for Barrack Obama. First, that if he doesn't know Christ as his savior, that he will accept Him. Next, that he will submerge himself in God's Holy Word and find out what He says about things like abortion, homosexuality, adultery, as well as, many other sins that seem to be rampant in America.
Just the other day a few co workers were talking about the election and I made a comment about a hideous movie being marketed right now about our current president. It is a shameful mockery of the revered position of the president. It was made by Oliver Stone who is obviously a flaming Hollywood liberal. I just mentioned it and before I could make a comment about it, my co workers laughed and jeered about how funny they thought it probably was. These comments made me furious. In a very non Christ-like manner, I stormed away in anger. I certainly had to ask God to forgive me. Simon-Peter is my favorite bible personality. He too, let his over zealousness get the best of him sometimes as well. I just happen to think that George W. Bush has done a pretty good job with what he has had to follow and with the liberal Democrats in Congress over ruling much of what he has tried to instill. Most of all I admire the fact that he tells us that he prays to God. He has been very open about being a Christian. If you think this doesn't matter, you are WRONG!!!!! I will sum up by saying that whenever you think of criticizing our president, just try and put yourself in that position and instead offer up a prayer. Shame on you Oliver Stone. I wish that Mr. Kristy Bradley (my 2nd grade teacher) could give you a good "talking to."

You are absolutely right! We may not see eye to eye on everything with our president, but he definitely hasn't had the support in Congress that he needs. It's scary to think how the liberals in Congress actually believe and think on certain issues.

Amen for the Blog Sister! It needs to be said and if we as Christians don't say it, it won't get said! We also need to be on our knees daily for this country and it's leaders. Everytime my Dad prays in church, he never fails to pray for this wicked nation called "America" and it's leaders. It scares me as well and I am praying hard that McCain rules the votes and wins! Thank you for taking a stand and speaking out. Nowadays, most people are afraid to speak up and speak out if it's the right thing. It seems like the only thing that is spoke aloud is the wrong things!
Love you girl!

You are right on with everything you said. I agree 100%!! Even if the dreaded Obama does get elected we should pray for him just as we would our preferred candidate. It only makes sense. Why wish him harm when he is going to be ruling our country. He really does scare me to death with his beliefs though. God, please give us the man who would be the best for our country and would serve not only his people, but you faithfully. AMEN
