Independence Day Blow Out!

On Saturday, July 4, 2009, My family hosted our 4th annual outdoor party. We actually started preparing about a month ago. Jeff and I have mowed, trimmed hedges and weeds, pressure washed any and everything that we could blast with water, reworked our gold fish pond and other things that fail my brain at this point. We have a very clean house and yard but have made one discovery----We are getting TOO OLD for all of this. We both absolutely love to throw and host events at our home. I find that it is such a good way to get to know people more intimately than just saying hi on occasion. There is just something about the warmth of a home that forces you to let your guard down and just be you. Those are the kind of people that we like to be around, just being themselves. I told Jeff when we first married that he would probably never pastor one of those big stuffy churches because once they met me they would not even consider him for that position. Jeff and I both are just plain old country people who enjoy hanging out with people that are just plain old country people as well. I want the kind of home that nobody would give a second thought to slipping their shoes off and kicking back with a glass of iced tea and joining us for a meal or a movie. Our home is certainly not a fancy one but I hope that it is seen as a place of love and friendship and most importantly one where God abides. We had a wonderful time with our friends. I hope all of our friends know that we love them very much. It was a great time to reflect on the holiday itself and be thankful that we are free to fellowship. God Bless America!!!! and thank you for letting me be born in this wonderful country. P.S. If anyone would like to come for a visit, this would now be a good time since the house and yard are so clean just give us a week to recuperate first.

I guess I was just too old to be invited ha! Everything looked absolutely beautiful. Did you and Jeff do all of that decorating or did you have help? Did you have any family come? I would like to come soon for a visit. I am just one of those old country girls you talked about liking. I would feel honored to hang out with you and the preacher and little man anytime anywhere. You dont even have to cook for me. I love being around you for your sweet spirit and contagious laughter.

Few comments about this posting.. First, the music made me want to close the page ASAP!!!
Second, definitely not a very diverse crowd...can we say? Backwoods....
Thirdly, to be a "Cristian" blog, I have seen the horrendous attacks which some posters have received on this forum. I just pray I don't get the same treatment.....
